Rejuvenate your spirit while toning your body and calming your mind! Vinyasa yoga teaches the student to link breath with movement, supporting strength and flexibility gains in all the major muscle groups. In this class, dancers can benefit from increased concentration while toning and lengthening muscles and learning to work with their own breath rhythms. This class creates a supportive and encouraging environment for beginners while also offering multi-level postures for more advanced practitioners. Students will also be offered specific yoga techniques to overcome audition and performance anxiety. Consistent vinyasa yoga practice promotes deep relaxation and a positive outlook, and all students are welcome.
This class is 1 hour of gentle yoga (as described above) followed by 30 minutes of guided meditation. During the meditation portion of class, students will learn to calm the mind, quiet the senses, and increase concentration. No experience necessary, and students of all spiritual backgrounds are welcome. Class exercises will include instruction in meditation for the modern practitioner, calming pranayama (breathing exercises), and methods for developing concentration.
Class will consist of warm-up exercises, fun improv, acting games, and the basics of acting technique. Students will learn simple script analysis and how to prepare for both on-camera and stage auditions. Each class will include techniques for overcoming performance and audition anxiety.
Learn to act in a fun, supportive, and judgement-free environment. In Improv Acting, students learn & strengthen acting skills through a series of improvisation games. Class begins with a group warm-up followed by a variety of exercises geared towards the level of the students. Exercises increase in complexity throughout the class and include large and small group improv games. Students will gain & deepen their knowledge of acting & improv skills, including: communication, supportive group dynamics, body language, accessing imagination & instincts, being present in the moment, character development, building relationships, the improv approach to scripted text, conﬁdence & concentration, audition skills, overcoming stage fright, and storytelling. No prior improv experience is required, and performers of all levels & ages are welcome. This class is based on the teaching of Gloria Maddox.
