Jill Kenney grew up dancing in Rhode Island, studying dance under the direction of Lisa Mailloux and also at the Newport Academy of Ballet. In 2001, she earned a degree in dance from Dean College where she was also awarded the Gregory Hines Tap Scholarship and the Trustee’s Prize in Dance. Soon after, she relocated to New York to study various forms of dance with a focus on tap. Jill has performed for Disney Cruise Lines, LG Electronics, Dancin’ on Common Ground, and an opening act for Omar Edwards’ Tap Dancing is Music. She has had the opportunity to perform choreography by Jared Grimes, Jeff Edmond, Garrett Minniti, Shea Sullivan, and Danny Wallace.
Currently Jill is working as Germaine Salsberg’s tap assistant. She is a featured dancer in Salsberg’s company, Les Femmes, which has performed for numerous venues such as Tap City at Lincoln Center and Symphony Space, Tradition in Tap, Boston Celebrates Tap at the Regent Theatre, and Fridays at Noon at the 92nd St Y. Jill is also a member of Folktap Danza Company under the direction of Carlos Doñán.
