Holly Kerr is a Teaching Artist for the New York City Ballet in their Workout Arts Outreach Program in the New York City Public High Schools. She is a Certified Master Teacher and Teacher Trainer of the New York City Ballet Workout. She has conducted Teacher Trainings and Master Classes for the New York City Ballet Workout in New York, London and Texas. She currently evaluates and certifies the teachers from around the world who teach the New York City Ballet Workout.
Ms. Kerr was a Teaching Artist for American Ballet Theatre in their Arts Outreach programs. She was Choreographer in Residence for ABT’s “Make a Ballet” Program at Long Island City High School, where she created a new ballet for the dance program. She has taught in three American Ballet Theatre Elementary and Middle School Programs in New York: “Nutrition and Dance”, “The Port Washington Project” and “The Ulysses Project” (a Ballet with Literacy Program).
Ms. Kerr is on the Faculty of Broadway Dance Center, New York City, where she teaches open classes. She has conducted classes in the BDC’s “For Teachers Only” Teacher Training Workshops. She has taught special workshops in the International Students Visa Program. She recently choreographed the first ballet for BDC’s Children’s Program performing company, AIM (Arts in Motion).
Ms. Kerr is a Certified Pilates Teacher (by Power Pilates) specializing in Pilates and conditioning for dancers. She is a recognized Pilates instructor by Pilates Method Alliance. She is certified by the American Council of Exercise as a Personal Trainer and as a Specialty Workshop Instructor. She has conducted master classes and seminars for dance and health club organizations in the USA and Europe. She is certified as an Active Isolated Stretch Flexibility Technician by Maximum Performance International.
She has taught ballet at Brant Lake Summer Dance Camp, New York, where she was on the dance faculty.
Each summer she conducts the Teacher Trainings Workshops at Lincoln Center for the New York City Public High School Dance Teachers who participate in the New York City Ballet Workout High School Program. She certifies the teachers who take this program for their New York City Board of Education Arts Credit. She has choreographed dances based on the NYC Ballet repertory for the program. Ms. Kerr teaches master classes in such New York City performing arts schools as Talent Unlimited and Frank Sinatra School of the Arts.
Ms. Kerr is a graduate of the high school ballet program at the North Carolina School of the Arts. She was trained in theatre at University of Denver. She was a principal dancer with Ballet Colorado, with whom she toured and performed in international opera and dance festivals. She was on the faculty of Denver Ballet Academy. Her other career highlights include dancing, singing and acting on Broadway, regional theatre, and in film and television productions. She was one of the dancing stars of MGM’s award winning show “Hallelujah, Hollywood”. She has also toured Europe, the USA and Canada, appearing on MTV and countless TV shows as one of the 1980s singing and dancing pop trios, The Flirts.
Ms. Kerr is a member of Screen Actors Guild, Actors Equity Association and American Federation of Television and Radio Artists.
