The most compelling testimony to Cecilia Marta’s success is her longevity and originality of style. For twenty years, Panamanian born Cecilia Marta has performed, choreographed and instructed her distinctive style of jazz starting in the United States and reaching as far as Africa.

Cecilia is Artistic Director for the Cecilia Marta Dance Company, and is currently working as Casting Partner to Cirque du Soleil.

Her stage and choreographic credits include Roberta Flack’s national and international television specials and tours. Cecilia has also performed with Al Jareau, Cissy Houston, with the prolific poet, interpreter and singer Gil Scott Heron and for Reverend Jesse L. Jackson. In Japan, acting as choreographer, co-director and performer, she has taken Osaka and Tokyo by storm. More of her works have been presented in Vienna, Austria, Southeast Asia, Canada, North Africa, Central and South America, and throughout the United States and Europe. Ms. Marta has also performed at the JVC Jazz Festivals in Nice and Deauville, France.

Cecilia has taught for the Celine Dion dancers in Las Vegas.

At the request of Judith Jamison, Director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theatre, Cecilia Marta has taught for their world-renowned scholarship program and school. Additionally, she has established herself at the Broadway Dance Center and at the San Francisco Dance Center, home of Alonzo King’s, Lines Ballet and through out the world. Dancers trained by Cecilia have been featured in the movie Chicago, the production Fosse on Broadway, the touring company for Aida, Madonna’s Vogue and Girlie Tour, and The Lion King on Broadway, just to name a few.

Cecilia Marta embodies that which makes up a refined dancer: A combination of skill, sensuality, intuitive musicality and an unparalleled sense of self, enabling her to maintain her status as one of the freshest and most exciting forces in dance today. Cecilia now resides in New York where she continues to teach as well as through out the Globe.
