Long time dancer, Jessica Phoenix started off training and performing in ballet, tap, jazz, and hip-hop all through school. She has always been around Caribbean culture while growing up in the Maryland/DC area and always loved everything about it. While in college, Phoenix started off dancing in the reggae clubs getting into the scene by studying the style, the music, and the moves.
In 2007, Jessica's dance career was abruptly stopped by a car accident. After an extended hospital stay and full rehabilitation, she said goodbye to her home, moved to Atlanta, and was ready to take her dance career to the next level.
Only a few months after relocating, Phoenix had quickly made a name for herself by signing with a known talent agency, performing, choreographing, and teaching locally and nationally. After a year in Atlanta, Phoenix was blessed to travel as a performer with the Universoul Circus U.S. Tour 2009 and 2010 and KING MICHAEL Tour 2011, a tribute to Michael Jackson.
After touring, Phoenix has continued to bring her energy to the dancehall scene and introduce it to the professional dance world through workshops, performance, and choreography. At this time she began to build her FIYAH brand as Phoenix Fiyah and with her all-female Dancehall performance group, Fiyah Squad. Phoenix won the Destined to Dance Award for Best Female Dancer of the year 2012, and shortly after she landed a role as Lead Female Dancer in America's Got Talent finalists ILUMINATE's production at Six Flags. She continues to perform with the company for corporate gigs nationally.
Phoenix has just recently moved to NYC already picking up work as a dance instructor at several studios and is very excited to be Dancehall Aerobics new instructor. With much experience under her belt, she is here to spread the FIYAH and love for dance.
