Native New Yorker Deborah Y. Wilson has been a choreographer, performer and dance teacher for many years. Her vibrant, fun, and energetic style engages dancers in a way that will train them for future careers in dance.

Deborah's teaching and choreography style is Commercial Jazz — Jazz technique with a funky edge, using today’s dance moves and pop music. It is a mixture of dance styles you see in commercials, TV shows, movies and music videos from around the world.

Some of Deborah's choreography credits include Futurology The Musical (Off Broadway), Carnival Choreographer's Ball (NYC), Rhapsody James's Sirens After Dark (NYC) and Assistant Choreographer for Lane Napper (from Victorious) for FreckleFace Strawberry The Musical (Off Broadway & Tour).

With her finger on the pulse of what’s new and hot, Deborah also choreographs for up-and-coming recording artists. Some of her work includes Put that WoOoOo in it for Robert Taylor Jr. (from So You Think You Can Dance) and assistant choreographer for recording artist Jahiem. Deborah’s performance credits include Sesame Street Live and The Wizard of Oz national tours, Porgy & Bess in Bregenz, Austria and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular in New York. She has also appeared in the movie I am Legend and has made various television appearances.

In addition, Deborah has assumed the role of Performance Director for Sesame Street Live and Production Assistant for the Dancin Feet Video Series featuring Lane Napper. Deborah’s teaching credits span both nationally and internationally giving her a unique perspective on the different dance and music styles from around the world. Her journey as a teacher began under the leadership of Frank Hatchett. Deborah is currently on faculty at Broadway Dance Center and has also taught at other well-renowned dance studios in New York, including Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater and Steps on Broadway. She has also taught various master classes, conventions, and workshops including The Pulse’s Annual Teacher's Workshop.
