Carlos Garland was raised in Jacksonville Florida, where he started dance at the age of 13 at Lavilla School of the Arts. Originally studying drama arts, he was brought into dance from a dare made by a friend in the 7th grade. He went on to graduate from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, studying dance all four years. In his senior year of high school he received a Merit Award in the NFAA (National Foundation of Advancement of the Arts) in Hip-Hop.

In class, dancers will work on endurance, stamina, balance, muscle strengthening, and flexibility with a cardio/mini floor barre/conditioning and stretch warm up. Following will be a Contemporary/Jazz combination that tests and builds the dancers abilities in movement aesthetics, quality of movement, personal artistry, musicality beyond basic counting, and comprehension of detailed choreography.
The goal of the class is to challenge and prepare students for current and developing trends in dance. Students will leaving inspiration that will last for dancers to work harder, develop more personal style/creativity, to have fun, and to overall increase their love of dance.
