W45 Policies & Dress Code

REGISTRATION

Registration will open June 2018 for the 2018/2019 Season.

PLACEMENT

Student class placement is based on the evaluation and not prior level. Placement is determined at the discretion of the evaluators and directors.

Registration is required before attending placement. Placement in appropriate/required levels will determine if they will continue in all classes selected. Be aware that if the level requirement is not met after placement, students may not be able to continue in certain classes.

Please view our Curriculum & Schedule page for placement dates and times.

Placement class is NOT necessary for beginner students, those under the age of 7, and anyone enrolling in Sunday classes. Beginner students may register for any (age appropriate) Beginner, Beg/Int, Level A, Level 1, or All Level (AL) classes. Most of these beginner level classes take place at our 65th St. location.

If your student has dance experience but you are unsure of his/her level, register for the class titled “Ballet 3-7” and/or “Jazz 3-7” (for teens) and “Ballet B-D” and/or “Jazz B-D” (for ages 10-12). Your student's level will then be determined by attending placement class.

Ages 7-9

All Beg/Int levels will be held at our new 65th St. location.

Ages 10-12 Teens

ATTENDANCE POLICY

Our W45 program is a 32-week commitment. Classes run from September to June, on Saturdays and Sundays. To best support your child’s training, CONSISTENT ATTENDANCE IS REQUIRED.

  • Students are allowed a total of 4 absences for the entire season.
  • If more than 4 absences occur during the dance season, you may be asked to withdraw from the program.
  • Absences include school testing, religious commitments, illness, family events, etc.
  • Students are required to attend the 3 classes leading up to the showcase.
  • Students are required to attend the Showcase dress rehearsal in June.
  • If your child has a planned absence, written documentation must be emailed to Allie Beach prior to the event.
  • For their safety, your child will not be able to participate in class if they arrive more than 10 minutes late. They must observe the class and take notes. This will be strictly enforced.
  • We do not allow students to “make-up” missed classes due to capacity limitations, and you will be held responsible for payment, even if your child does not attend class.

It is imperative to your child’s success that this program is viewed as a serious commitment.

Professional Children

Children who work professional jobs are allowed a total of 6 absences for the season. If absences exceed six, they will be asked not to participate in the showcase, but may continue classes. Written proof documentation of the job must be given to Allie prior to the job’s start date. The 6-class extension only applies to documented jobs. Absences for auditions are discouraged.

DRESS CODE

We enforce a mandatory dress code for each age division. We feel strongly that this will promote discipline and proper classroom etiquette. All hair must be pulled back away from the face. No jewelry is permitted. Any student not in dress code will be asked to observe the class.
