SPOTLIGHT: BDC Commercial Dance Intensive

BDC's Commercial Dance intensive is designed for intermediate advanced dancers looking to take their training up a notch: Eight hours of closed classes with elite faculty, professional seminar with a talent agent, photographer, and makeup artist/stylist; mock audition and wrap-up with guest panelists!
Students will learn choreography from leading dance professionals and participate in seminars hosted by industry experts -- all classes are dedicated to refining each dancer's craft. From finding an agent to professional feedback from premier choreographers, this workshop is the perfect supplement for any serious dancer's training. If commercial dance is your dream, this is a weekend you can't afford to miss.

Rhapsody James is a native New Yorker and graduate of Purchase College. She founded her dance company R.E.D (Rhapsody En Dance) after her success with the multimedia cabaret show, Siren Assassins, and her dance training program, Motivating Excellence. With over twenty years of experience within the dance community she continues to be one of the world's most sought after choreographers and instructors. Her choreography credits include: Beyoncé, Madonna, Britney Spears, J.Lo and The Jonas Brothers, as well as company appearances on internationally renowned stages from New York City to Switzerland. Rhapsody also had the pleasure of being on the cover of the 2012 April issue of Dance Teacher Magazine, where she was quoted to be the "Queen of Street Jazz." Anthony Rue II, better known in the dance world as AntBoogie, is the founder and leader of one of the most commercially successful dance groups, The Amount Boyz. AntBoogie was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and transcended the boundaries of the inner city and its woes, beginning his dance training starting at the early age of 10, at the National Dance Institute. After training at the institute through out his elementary years Anthony then moved on to attend New York City's acclaimed "Fame" school Fiorella La Gaurdia High School of the Performing Arts. Tavia and Tamara have taught several workshops in various countries and at conventions such as The PULSE and Monsters Of Hip-Hop. Born and raised in the South Bronx, La Jon aka Lil Luda aka Smiles grew up stepping and dancing in the streets. He began his career in a local after school program called Teens In Motion. While there he honed his skills in stepping and dancing. His lust for dancing led him to Broadway Dance Center. Toronto native, Fatima Wilson began her career casting commercials, music videos, and print. In 2007, she brought her expertise stateside, joining Bloc Talent Agency's Los Angeles staff. Shortly thereafter, Wilson was commissioned to move to New York, where she heads the commercial and dance departments. Bloc NYC is a talent agency representing choreographers, dancers and actors for live concerts, theatre, commercials, feature film, episodic television, music videos, and print. bloc choreographers represent both the classic and contemporary in style and conception. They strive to shape their movement and creativity to evolve with the times.
Juliana Litchman, a proud East Coaster, is originally from Branchburg, NJ. Julianna began dancing at the age of three, and what started as a hobby quickly became a lifelong passion. Julianna attended Fordham University in New York, where she graduated with a degree in Communications and Minor in Sociology. She continued to dance throughout college with a performance group called Expressions Dance Alliance, where she served as Vice President. During the summer before her senior year of college Julianna began working at Clear Talent Group, combining her passion for dance and interest in the business side of the entertainment industry. After her graduation in 2010 Julianna began working full time with CTG-NY. Julianna is thankful to have a job that she loves and looks forward to each day that she can help her clients grow and achieve their goals.
Matthew Murphy is a New York City-based photographer specializing in theater and dance. Since 2008, his work has regularly appeared in the Arts and Leisure section of The New York Times, and additional credits include Bravo TV, Playbill, Vanity Fair, The Village Voice, Broadway.com, Broadway World, Dance Magazine, The Financial Times, Dance Spirit Magazine, Movmnt Magazine, Dance Teacher Magazine, The New York Post, Ghostlight Records, American Ballet Theatre, Paul Taylor Dance Company and numerous Broadway performances and rehearsals including Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson, Catch Me If You Can,Anything Goes (2011 revival), and The Book of Mormon. Students who have registered and paid for the workshop, but withdraw no later than ten days before the workshop start date, are entitled to a full refund less an administrative fee of $25.00. No refunds will be given after Aug. 14, 2013.
