Joshua Bergasse is a NYC based choreographer and teacher. He has been a member of the Broadway Dance Center Faculty since 1998. As a choreographer, Bergasse won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Choreography for NBC’s Smash. Theater credits include: On the Town and the upcoming Gigi on Broadway, Little Me and It’s A Bird...It’s A Plane... It’s Superman! City Center Encores!; Guys and Dolls and The Sound of Music Carnegie Hall; Bomb-Itty of Errors and Captain Louie Off-Broadway; Fame The Musical Tour; Nerds Philadelphia Theatre Company (Barrymore Nomination); Secondhand Lions Fifth Avenue Theatre; West Side Story Stratford Shakespeare Festival; On the Town, Guys and Dolls, Carousel, and The World Goes Round Barrington Stage. Also for television, Bergasse choreographed for FOX’s So You Think You Can Dance. Joshua has performed in the Broadway and/or National touring companies of Movin'Out, Hairspray,The Life, and West Side Story.
Besides being a guest faculty member at BDC, Josh was the artistic director for the Musical Theater Performance Project at BDC, and has been a guest artist at NYU, Princeton, Marymount Manhattan College, Indiana University, James Madison University, Shennendoah University, Kean University, Creighton University and the University of California Satellite program. He’s toured with Manhattan Dance Project, West Coast Dance Explosion, and Tremaine as well as a guest instructor for The Pulse and NYCDA.
