Whether in front of a camera or teaching a class, you’ll always feel the infectious energy of Mel Charlot.
Known throughout the dance world as Charlot (charlô), this blossoming artist began planting her seeds in Montreal, Canada, where she was born and raised. Continuing to train, perform, and choreograph with studios and competitive teams throughout Montreal, she honed her skills in numerous styles.
The years of hard work revealed Charlot's calling as a commercial dancer, and she decided to further pursue her professional career in Los Angeles. It was during her Hollywood odyssey that she began commanding the attention of the industry’s top choreographers, from Sheryl Murakami to Mariel Martin, Alex “Spicey” Lande, Scott Fordham, and Luam.
A major vote of confidence came quickly in the form of representation, as Charlot has been signed to Bloc Talent Agency since 2009. Now, for a master of any craft, the learning never stops! Moving to the other capital of dance, New York City, she auditioned for, and was accepted into, Motivating Excellence, a professional training program for the commercial dancer, created by top choreographer and artistic director Rhapsody James. Charlot was then selected for the 2011 cast of Monsters Of Hip-Hop, and raised her profile working in music videos and performances, through which she forged relationships with Chonique Sneed, Lisette Bustamente, Kevin Maher, Nick DeMoura, David Moore, Derell Bullock, Luther Brown, and many more.
Most recently, Charlot was chosen to work with Kenny Leon and Wayne Cilento, in the development of the upcoming Broadway musical Holler If Ya Hear Me, based on the life of rap icon Tupac Shakur. Working consistently between Los Angeles, New York, and Montreal, Charlot continues to make her way with her ever-growing ambitions and talents, and continues to make her mark with her laugh, her groove, and some serious spunkiness. She is simply destined to mesmerize and inspire. For more information, please visit www.MelCharlot.com.
