Brian Carey Chung danced for 20 years with Alonzo King's LINES Ballet, Karole Armitage's Armitage Gone! Dance, Dwight Rhoden/Desmond Richardson's Complexions Contemporary Ballet, and Ballet Hispanico of New York. He also served as Ms. Armitage's company Rehearsal Director and as her Assistant Choreographer on the Public Theater's Shakespeare in the Park production of HAIR. He is the founding artistic director and choreographer of COLLECTIVE BODY | DANCELAB, a creative think tank for new dance in New York City. Since its inception in 2009, the company has performed two seasons at Baryshnikov Arts Center and has toured to Denmark as a finalist in the 2010 Aarhus International Choreographic Competition. Additionally, he has created works for Connecticut Ballet and Cedar Lake Ensemble II, among others. 

Mr. Chung holds the MFA in Creative Writing from New York University where he taught poetry as an adjunct professor. He has guest taught master classes and lectured in dance at Stanford University, New York University's Tisch School, and the University of Hawaii. Mr. Chung is an ABT® Certified Teacher, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum. He currently teaches GYROKINESIS® at Dance New Amsterdam. Additionally, he is a certified GYROTONIC® instructor, and teaches privately throughout New York City.
