Lorena Valenzuela was born and raised in Durango Mexico, where she started dancing at the age of three. After years of training in Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary, she moved to Monterrey, Mexico to pursue a College education. That’s where she met her dance family Funkdation Crew. Together they won national and international competitions, traveled across Mexico performing, and teaching workshops. In April of 2012 they were chosen to be part of America’s Best Dance Crew. This led to other amazing opportunities, like performing live for the Festival People Magazine in San Antonio Tx, Vail International Dance Festival in Colorado, Culture Shock LA: Beauty, Fosse the Jack Rabbit, VIBE, World of Dance in CA, and performances for TV stations such as Fox 11, MTV, and Univision.
Lorena created Waacking Choreography for shows in Los Angeles such as LA’s International Waackfest, Carnival: Choreographers Ball, World of Dance, Collaboration SoCal, MaxtOut, Rythmic Expressions, among others. She’s been teaching at Movement Lifestyle, Studio V, The Get Down District, Stylz, the South Coast Conservatory, The Jukebox Studio (Phoenix, AZ), In the Groove Studios, District SF in (San Francisco, CA) and The New Day Center (Portland, OR), and Block 1750 (Denver, CO).
Lorena is now signed with The Movement Talent Agency and has begun her journey as a professional dancer in Los Angeles industry. Lorena has recently booked music videos for JoJo, Jody Watley, and Nayer, among other great opportunities. Last year she became part of the outstanding Waacking crew The Waackers led by Kumari Suraj, and now directed by Lorena Valenzuela, together they've been working hard to make the Punking/Waacking community of LA grow. She has judged Waacking battles such as; Return of the Waack, Jungle Spacehip Ball, Homeland 2015 Jam, Waackers of the Galaxy, USJ 2v2 Jam, among others.
Being from another country is challenging, Lorena has experienced a lot of difficult situations but all those experiences have made her stronger. She believes that if you stay strong, humble and work hard in life, you'll get anywhere you want.
