Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
How many students qualify as a group?
A group is six or more students traveling together, taking a minimum of 10 classes combined, and purchasing their classes at the same time.
Do we have to register our group before we arrive?
Yes, in order to qualify for the Group discount please register at least 72 hours in advance using our online registration form. Registering in advance helps us provide you with a wonderful group experience at our best rates
Do we have to choose the classes we are going to take before we arrive?
Registration is on a first come first serve basis. In order to reserve your students’ spots in class we suggest submitting your class selections before you arrive. Due to a number of factors, placement in regularly-scheduled classes is limited for groups.
How do we know what classes to take?
Our staff is happy to assist you in organizing your students’ schedules so that they are placed in classes best suited to their individual needs. Contact our Group Services Department at 212.582.9304 x 79 or email us.
How old do you have to be to take drop-in class at BDC?
Our Drop-In Classes are restricted to students 13 years of age and up. There are a handful of teachers in each discipline that may choose to accommodate students between the ages of 10 and 13 in their basic and beginner level classes. We also offer private master classes where we are happy to customize a class for students of any age, at any level! Please contact Group Services in advance to obtain permission for your younger students.
Can my students take their classes together?
The amount of students per group in a single drop-in class should not exceed 8. Our staff will do their best to accommodate your request, however, this is dependent upon the size of your group and the classes you request. In most cases, the level and preferences of your students vary within the group, so naturally, the classes selected should reflect that. This is a great way to encourage your dancers to try something new! If you prefer your students all dance together, let us arrange a private master class!
Can parents and chaperones observe the classes?
We welcome class observation from outside the studios as we believe there is much to learn through watching. Our studios have large viewing windows and plenty of space to get comfortable. To respect our other dancers we ask you do not videotape from outside the studio. Pending teacher approval, parents are welcome to observe a Private Master Class from inside the studio.
What is the best time of year for me to bring my students?
Groups are welcome all year ‘round, visit us anytime! Some months may be busier than others; feel free to contact Group Services for more scheduling information.
